Join us as we welcome Manfred Honeck, Austrian conductor, and Music Director of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra for the past 16 seasons! Manfred has firmly established himself as one of the world’s leading conductors, whose distinctive and revelatory interpretations receive international acclaim. Manfred will discuss Great Composers and the spirituality of Music. He will explore specific compositions where faith and philosophy are most pronounced. How does a conductor interpret the work of a composer? What is the balance between personal interpretation and original intention? And how can we understand music as an art form? The presentation will be followed by an interview with the Maestro and Q&A.
The evening begins with a VIP Pre-Event Reception with Manfred on the historic patio of the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall at 5:30. Enjoy a beautiful display of stationary appetizers, along with a delicious selection of passed hors doeuvres and cash bar. Following the reception, we'll make our way to the First Baptist Church of Pittsburgh for Manfred's insightful talk and Q&A at 7:30.
